Technology behind digital hearing aids

Our latest digital hearing aids are discreet, lightweight and contain a sophisticated microchip that means we can fine tune and completely personalise a digital hearing solution to improve your specific hearing problems.

All you need to know

We have hearing solutions ranging from tiny, almost invisible styles that fit discreetly inside the ear, to those that sit comfortably behind the ear. You can even select devices that connect wirelessly to your mobile smartphone if you like and need advanced technological features.

Choose hearing aids that are small, light and are easy to live with, whether you’re watching TV, travelling or exercising.

What types of hearing aids can I get?

Our digital hearing aids use advanced technology to help you make perfect sense of the sounds around you. We'll help you find the right type of hearing aid, whether you have mild, moderate or severe hearing loss.

There are three main types of hearing aids available: in the ear hearing aids, receiver-in-canal hearing aids, and behind the ear hearing aids. Each type of hearing aid has its own unique features and design, from discrete models that sit entirely within the ear canal to those that are better suited to more advanced cases of hearing loss.

Our digital hearing aids use the latest technology to help you live and experience each and every sound around you. Our expert audiologists will guide and help you get the right type of hearing aid whether you have mild, moderate or severe hearing loss.

  • Invisible hearing aids – Custom made to fit discreetly inside the ear canal.
  • Behind the ear hearing aids – Slim line designs that fit snugly behind the ear.
  • In-ear hearing aids – Small in size but big on technology, and customisable to your needs.

Learn more about the Ear Machines

Why is it important to wear ear hearing machines?

There are several benefits to wearing hearing aids or ear machines that not only improve your quality of life but can help prevent further hearing loss. As well as helping you to hear, wearing hearing aids increases safety and independence, improves your ability to socialise with family and friends, and preserves cognitive functions such as memory, balance and concentration.

How do hearing aids work?

Hearing machines or hearing aids work by amplifying the sounds that travel into your ear, making them louder while also reducing background noise so that important sounds becomes clearer.

A hearing aid’s microphone picks up sounds, such as the sound of someone’s voice, and turns this into an electrical signal. Next, the amplifier increases the volume or strength of the electrical signal. The receiver then transforms the amplified signal into sound and sends this to your ear.

What type of hearing device is best for me?

Our hearing care professionals or audiologists will work with you to understand your current hearing concerns and help you unlock your full hearing potential. They'll use their expert knowledge and experience to customise your devices, allowing you to rediscover the sounds around you.

We'll be there to support you throughout your entire hearing health journey to ensure your devices continue to meet your needs.

No matter what type of hearing machine you choose, each device will be personalised to suit your needs by a fully qualified hearing care professional.

How does a hearing aid work?

Although the hearing aid or ear machine design and main features can slightly change, the main components are basically always the same:

  • Microphone (to record noise)
  • Amplifier (to convert noise)
  • Earphone (to process sounds)
  • Battery (power supply)

The smaller a hearing aid is, the more intelligent, digital microelectronic technologies it hides. Thanks to todays technological advancements, modern hearing aids can be adjusted and fitted exactly to your specific hearing problem – since hearing loss can differ from individual to individual, the hearing aid set up cannot be one-fits-all.
