Amplifon offers both Hearing Checks and Full Diagnostic Hearing Tests, depending on your needs. Both options are carried out by trained professionals, but they differ in depth, purpose and the type of results provided.
A hearing check is a quick (15-20 minutes), non-invasive screening designed to give an initial indication of your hearing health. It is a simple pass/fail style assessment conducted by our hearing care professionals. It helps identify whether further testing may be needed.
A hearing check includes Pure Tone Audiometry to assess the frequencies you can hear, along with a basic explanation of the results provided at the end of the appointment. However, it does not include speech testing, middle ear testing, a written report, a discussion of possible funding options or access to a free trial of hearing devices.
A Full Diagnostic Hearing Assessment is a complete clinical evaluation designed to determine whether hearing loss is present and what type it may be. Performed by a qualified hearing care professional in a sound-treated environment, it provides a medical-level assessment of hearing function and forms the basis for prescribing the most suitable hearing solution. This comprehensive appointment includes Pure Tone Audiometry, speech testing and middle ear testing, along with a written report that can be sent to your GP or specialist if needed. You will also receive a detailed explanation of all results, guidance on possible funding options and a demonstration or test drive of the latest hearing aid technology.
