Amplifon, listed on the Italian Stock Exchange, is the world leader in the field of distribution and personalised fitting of hearing aids and was set up in the early 1950's by Charles Holland. The company, which has its head office in Milan, now operates in 13 different countries either using the Amplifon brand name or using the other companies' brands which have been acquired since the 1990's.
The core business is the distribution of hearing systems (hearing aids) and their fitting and personalisation to the needs of hearing-impaired patients. In total this makes up 98% of the consolidated revenue, the rest of the business is the development, production and commercialisation of biomedical equipment, which is currently under dismissal.
The group has a distribution network of more than 3,000 specialised points of sale, 3,500 authorised centres, 2,000 affiliated shops and more than 3,500 hearing-aid specialists.
