What is an Audiologist?
An Audiologist can diagnose and treat hearing loss in adults as well as identify any other hearing related problems that may require attention from a medical professional. They are also trained to prescribe and fit hearing aids and advise on any additional therapy.
Why choose our Audiologists?
At Amplifon, we pride ourselves on our aftercare, which we offer free for life when you purchase hearing aids from us.
We also provide up to four years guarantee on your hearing aid and are always ready and happy to answer any questions you may have. Every hearing care expert at Amplifon is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
As a respected professional organisation, the HCPC only accepts members who adhere to its strict standards for professional skills, training and behaviour. Our team of licensed Audiologists are ready to welcome you at any one of our branches across the UK. We’ll listen closely to your concerns and take the time to understand situations and environments in which you find hearing most challenging. With access to state-of-the-art technology, we are here to ensure you can go about your daily life with the added benefit of clearer hearing.
What can our Audiologists do for you?
An Amplifon Audiologist is much more than just a hearing aid specialist although, typically, their primary job is to test hearing, and to prescribe and fit hearing aids.
- Your hearing test
During your hearing test, your Audiologist will ask you about your hearing problems and they will ask you to use a set of headphones to listen to a series of sounds at different pitches in each ear. All you need to do is press a button every time you hear a sound. After this simple test, you will undergo important tests of your understanding of speech both in quiet and in noisy conditions to simulate your real-world experience. Our hearing test is one of the most thorough in the industry.
Your Audiologist will then take you through the results of your hearing test and will discuss the types of hearing aids that are suitable for your needs and budget
Depending on the type of hearing aids you need, we may take a mould of your ear to ensure it fits correctly and performs as it needs to. Following the test, it can take approximately two weeks to prepare your hearing aids ready for fitting
- When it’s time to fit your hearing aids
When your hearing aids are ready, you will be asked to attend a fitting appointment with your dedicated hearing specialist. They will check that they fit properly and provide you with the right level of amplification and clear speech understanding. They will then show you how to fit, clean, store and use them, as well as answering any questions you may have.
- Support and aftercare
Your hearing changes throughout your life; regular appointments with your Audiologist are just as important as those with your optician or dentist. We provide a Lifetime Aftercare programme to ensure you always stay in touch with the world around you.
Aftercare may involve helping you plan and manage your hearing challenges through your devices. We are also on hand to provide help, advice or support whenever required.
